We love giving our patients of all ages a smile of which they can be proud. Orthodontic treatment can also help you to clean your teeth more easily because teeth that are crooked or crossed can be harder to keep free from plaque. The result is a stunning smile and healthier teeth that will last longer as a result of orthodontics.
We offer several options for orthodontic treatment including NHS care for those who qualify and we firmly believe in creating a warm and informal atmosphere for our younger patients from across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire that will help them relax whilst visiting and keep them motivated throughout their treatment.
NHS treatment is available to patients under the age of 18 years. Due to strict guidelines, treatment for minor problems or cosmetic reasons does not normally qualify for treatment under the NHS.
Children with more complex orthodontic problems usually qualify for NHS treatment that is entirely free. We aim to see children for their initial consultation within eighteen weeks of referral from their dentist, when we can confirm eligibility and advise you of our waiting list for treatment.
Once the brace is fitted your child will need to visit for regular adjustments every 4 – 8 weeks. These appointments take place from 9.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday with the orthodontist or orthodontic therapist. Brace treatment normally takes around 18 months to complete.
Every patient of Raynesway Orthodontic Practice benefits from our attentive approach, quality service and the happy faces of our team are enjoyed by private and NHS patients alike.
Don’t qualify for the NHS? You’ll love our Silver Service
If you choose to have private treatment, you will benefit from our out of school appointment times and a greater choice of appliance. For patients not eligible for NHS treatment, we would be more than happy to discuss private care and our various finance options.
Should your child not qualify for NHS brace treatment or you don’t want to join the waiting list for treatment, our Silver service may provide a cost effective and immediate alternative.

The Twin Block is a form of orthodontic management primarily used in phase one of treatment to correct the bite, reposition the lower jaw, or increase and/or expand arch development. It typically lasts between 9-12 months and is then followed by a further period of fixed appliance treatment.
It works through the use of four plastic blocks, two on the top jaw and two on the bottom that force the wearer to push their bottom jaw forward in order for them to close their mouth. This increases the strength of the lower jaw and teaches it to close in the new position. The treatment aims to improve the bite and the overall profile of the wearer.
