Orthodontics

We offer a wide range of orthodontic appliances. During your first visit we will thoroughly examine your teeth and jaw and talk with you about your expectations. We will explain the options available to you and make recommendations so that you can make an informed decision about which appliance to choose.

Fixed braces with metal or tooth coloured brackets

The traditional braces often known as ‘train tracks’ because of the metal wires which go across the teeth. We can provide either standard metal brackets, or tooth coloured ones which are far less visible.

Ligature free metal fixed braces

These enable the teeth to move rapidly and so patients have a shorter course of treatment and longer intervals between visits.

Removable braces

These are a traditional type of brace, but can be designed so that very little is visible when viewed from the front.

Lingual braces

These are metal braces that are fitted to the back of the teeth rather than the front, so they are virtually invisible. They are not suitable for everyone. The advantage of these is that people usually can’t tell you are wearing a brace.

ClearstepTM Aligners / Invisalign®

These thin, clear aligners are popular with patients because they are removable for eating and brushing, and virtually invisible. They are usually only suitable for ages 14 and over.

Useful information

We are a private practice offering NHS treatment to eligible children under 18, and private treatment to children and adults.

Payment

Payment for private care can be spread over the duration of the treatment, interest-free if required. Please ask for details.

Many people have teeth that are over-crowded or crooked. In some cases this can make their upper teeth stick out and look unsightly, in other cases it can cause gaps and over-lapping which can make it more difficult to maintain good oral health.

In addition, it can mean that the teeth don’t meet together properly, which affects your bite. This can make it difficult to chew properly, and can put stress on the jaw joint which can then cause other problems such as headaches and pain in the ear, neck and shoulder area.

At Raynesway Dental Practice, we have years of training and experience in fitting the latest techniques and appliances, so that we can help you to get the best possible results from your treatment.

We treat people of all ages, offering a wide choice of treatment options for both adults and children.

NHS treatment is available for children, however with strict new NHS regulations this means not as many children are able to qualify for free treatment

At your child’s initial consultation, we will carry out a full examination of their teeth, which will help us assess their needs and whether they qualify for NHS funded treatment.

If they do, we can add them to our waiting list. Usually patients are assessed within six weeks, sometimes sooner than this

If your child does not qualify, you can still opt to have them treated under our private options.

We are noticing a huge growth in interest in private orthodontics, especially now that we are able to offer virtually invisible appliances. These mean that if you or your child are self-conscious about your teeth, you can now have treatment without having to wear unsightly metal braces.

Over a quarter of our orthodontic patients are adults who want to enhance their smile. Often these adults will have their teeth whitened once their orthodontic treatment is complete. We make this easy and cost-effective for them by providing whitening gel to wear within their retainers.

While we do of course offer the same high quality treatment to all our patients, our private patients do reap additional benefits.

The main one is the wide choice of appliances, from the more traditional – though still highly effective – ones with metal wires, to virtually invisible, removable aligners.

Our private patients are also given regular appointments with our hygienist or dental therapist to provide extra help with keeping their teeth and gums healthy during treatment, and are offered  appointments at premium times such as after school hours.
