There’s almost nothing worse than toothache, or at least that’s how it feels when you have it. With so many different possibilities that might cause pain in your mouth, some of them with serious repercussions, it’s important that you see your dentist as soon as you can when toothache strikes. Simply masking the problem by taking paracetamol or stronger painkillers presents a very real chance that you’re setting yourself up for more severe pain at a later date. Don’t let a problem in its early stages develop into something altogether more severe!

Here at the Raynesway Dental Practice in Derby we’re permanently on standby, ready to assist you with your dental problems. During office hours will do all we can to fit your emergency case into that day. Out of office hours, you’ll need to phone our emergency number and listen to the recorded message which will give you the information you need to find dental assistance quickly.

What constitutes a dental emergency?

Although your unexpected date at the weekend and perceived urgent need for tooth whitening might feel like an emergency, this is perhaps not as urgent a scenario as you might think. However, that doesn’t mean to say that if you need a tooth whitening treatment fast and we can fit you in quickly, we won’t – of course we will!

The most common causes of dental emergencies are teeth which have been chipped or broken and need to be restored, teeth which have been knocked loose or out and broken crowns or fillings. We’ll do everything we can to save the tooth from extraction. We’ll do everything we can to make your mouth comfortable. Broken crowns will be replaced or fixed. It’s important to remove jagged edges.

If you’ve managed to get something stuck between your teeth, your Derby dentist will remove it. If your gum is injured, or there is a swelling in your mouth, please get in touch. If you’re an orthodontic patient and your brace has broken please come in as soon as possible because having metal sticking out where it shouldn’t be in your mouth (if you have a brackets and wires or lingual set up) can be very dangerous. The same goes for a broken implant.

Our customers feel assured that we will act quickly and thoroughly whenever a dental emergency occurs. We are dedicated to making you comfortable, saving your natural teeth whenever possible and helping your smile look as good as it possibly can. If you are experiencing a dental emergency, please give us a call and we can help you. Let us take the stress out of the situation.

For added peace of mind we recommend you join our practice as a member (if you’re not one already) because the dentist will already be familiar with your teeth and may find it quicker and easier to correct the issue effectively. Please give us a call.
